3 Tips For Solving The Issue With Your Car's Remote Starter

If your car features a remote starter on your key, you may find one day that it is no longer working. If so, use the following tips to help you find a simple solution to the issue with your car's remote starter.
Check the Remote Switch
The first thing you should do when trying to find the problem with your car's remote starter is to check the remote switch inside your car. This switch is designed to temporarily disable the remote starting feature on your vehicle in case the starter is stolen or the engine needs to be worked on. It is possible that the switch was bumped and turned off.
Depending on the model of your car, the switch can be found in one of two places. Check under the dashboard on the side closest to the driver's door. If you do not find it there, look in the fuse box located in your engine's compartment. You may need to consult your owner's manual to find it.
If the remote switch has been turned off, flip it to the "on" setting. If this does not fix the issue or the switch was already on, go on to the next section.
Change the Batteries
If you have found that the remote switch is not causing the problem with your starter, it is possible that the batteries inside the key remote have died and need to be changed.
To find out what batteries you will need, either find out the information in the owner's manual or contact an auto accessory store. After changing the batteries, try to start your car using the remote. If you still cannot use it, proceed to the next section.
Clean the Sensors on Your Starter and Hood Switch
Another possible issue with your starter that is making you unable to start your car remotely is that the sensors either on the starter or hood switch have become dirty. If the sensors are dirty, the signal cannot be exchanged.
Use a soft cloth to clean the sensor at the base of your remote starter. Then, open the hood of your car, and find the hood switch. It is usually found towards the front of the hood. Wipe its sensor, then try using the remote to start your car.
After going through the above tips, you may still find that you are still unable to start your car with your remote starter.
